This large, proportioned design is shown as a bespoke variation from an original featured design in the Jackson's historical catalogue of 1834. The opening height and jambs being adapted to a client's own specifications at the time of manufacturing. Although dated as catalogue 1834, the style is late Georgian with very a strong Robert Adams influence.
The fireplace design consists of applied Carton-Pierre Acanthus Leaf pattern running across the front edge and sides of the shelf moulding above a run of dentil mouldings. This in turn is surmounting a glorious frieze of husk swags having detailed trophies either side of the main featured centre block showing a classical allegorical group flanked by elegant urns holding plentiful fruit and flowers.
The mantelpiece opening is finely detailed with a fluted and patera border and the jambs are equally supported by prominent carved volutes at the foot blocks. The fireplace jambs were specifically customised, a variation at the time on order from the original drawing in the catalogue with Acanthus Leaf design to the corbels which in turn were elongated to the height of the mantel.
The original opening height was also adapted creating a more horizontal feel to the entire chimney piece. George Jackson began trading from Rathbone Place near Oxford Circus in London (where this fireplace was purchased and made) At the time the Adam brothers` style of architecture and interior design was central to what became known as the Age of Elegance.
Jackson produced reverse cut hardwood timber moulds and pressed out a new material they had brought to Britain called Composition “Compo”, as it is colloquially known, is a putty-like substance introduced to enable the production of enrichments without using the then long-established method of wood carvings. The first Royal Warrant was issued to Jacksons by George IV in 1826 This timber fireplace mantel, of sizeable proportions, with the Carton-Pierre applied decoration being of particularly fine and good condition is classically painted.
If the existing choice of colour (or similar) is maintained, it will sit comfortably within an elegant late Georgian or period style property. The design of the mantel is very much of the George III style of about 1780-90 and continued up to and throughout the Regency to 1837 & early Victorian period.

This fine example of an Antique original Victorian fireplace has a fully Burnished (Polished) Finish.
It is complete with fire 9.5 inch depth back, set of front bars, and decorative fixed hood. Beautiful traditional Swirls, scrolls & floral patern throughtout and dental detail to the underside of the shelf. Fireplace includes a full set of ten handpainted embossed tear drop tiles. Recently salvaged from a London town house.

A marvel in marble, this unusual chimneypiece is inspired by a mid-1790s original in the Middle Bedroom at Kenwood House, possibly carved by John Bingley. It features beaded circular patterns with central paterae on frieze, and pairs of pilasters with composite capitals on the jambs supporting finely carved cherubs. Pictured with it is our Blenheim fire basket with its open-fret brass apron. Our Reeded cast-iron panels discreetly echo the pilasters' hand-carved fluting.
This large, imposing chimneypiece is based on a lavish design dating from about 1729. Inspired by the work of the 17th-century architect and stage designer Inigo Jones, it was conceived as a theatrical flourish in a relatively sober Palladian villa. Hand-carved from premium-quality Imperial white marble, the surround is a test of a master stone-carver's skill, featuring as it does a female mask at the centre of the frieze and exquisite detailing on the corbels and jambs. We have paired this masterpiece with our Trafalgar fire basket.

It was certainly a case of wish-fulfilment for us. We spotted the 19th-century original in a Devon mansion and couldn’t rest until we had reproduced it in all its Imperial white marble splendour, complete with imposing caryatids and luxuriant roses. Shown teamed with the Dorchester grate, it is now available to order or customised for discerning clients everywhere. For our highly skilled masons its creation is a lengthy process involving traditional techniques and tools.
The Rais Q-Tee 2 multi fuel stove has a 8kw output. Featuring a large window which offers an absolutely spectacular view of the fire, the Q-TEE 2 combines elegant RAIS functionality with outstanding performance and efficiency. This DEFRA exempted wood burning stove with excellent environmental credentials also has the added benefit of being suitable for occasional multifuel use.
The stove can be freestanding on a 12mm thick hearth or placed within a suitable builders opening. A uniquely asymmetrical log store base is available to further enhance the Q-Tee 2’s already stunning visual effect.
The single air control makes the stove very easy to control, and other luxury features include a stay-cool door handle, shaker grate and removable stainless steel ash pan.
